We have a few new events happening at the beginning of this year. First off we are playing at great new bar that is being opened up by Vince Neil from Motley Crue. The bar is called Dr. Feelgoods Rock Bar and Grill and is located at 219 Clematis Street where Monkey Club used to be. Vince Neil is performing on opening night on Clematis Street Sat, Jan 19. We are playing  their Back in Black Bike Night Wed, Jan 23 from 7 - 11pm and is being hosted by Vince Neil himself. So needless to say we are stoked and are really gonna tear it up. So come out and join us as we kick off the year in West Palm Beach at Dr. Feelgoods with Vince Neil Check out the website www.drfeelgoodsbar.com

Secondly we are doing Mafia Music Tuesdays which is a new event taking place at Boston's on the Beach in Delray Beach. This event will focus on original music from several different bands all in one night. So if you are into original music, this is the event for you. We are playing this event Tuesday, Jan 22 from 8 - 12am

Thirdly 5th Gear is going acoustic at Boston's. Jason and Rhett are breaking out the acoustic guitars and doing a set Friday, Jan 4th from 5:30 - 8:30pm We are hoping that will this will be a new and continuous event as well.

Dec 2007

5th Gear had a great year in 2007. Business really picked up for us and we have added a lot of great new Venues to our calendar. To see all the venues we now play go to the lyrics and venue links page.

We started the year off with the South Florida BBQ Festival which had Jimi Van Zandt and Georgia Satellites headlining. We are going to start 2008 off with a show playing the FedEX Orange Bowl Budweiser Tailgate party Jan 3 at Dolphin Stadium. Kansas U and Virginia Tech are playing in the Orange Bowl game and ZZ Top is playing at the halftime show. Its always been a dream of ours to open for ZZ Top as they are one of our favorite bands and influences. Although we won't be sharing the same exact stage we are sharing the same event venue, so we are really excited about that and hope that 2008 holds more shows with Major national acts. Work has begun on new material as well, so we hope to have some new recordings in 2008 as well! Thank you to all the people who have come out and supported us this year. Have a great New Year and lets keep rocking in 2008!

Sept 2007

We were extremely busy during August doing more shows in one month then ever previously. We have also been getting some radio airplay on 103.1 the buzz on their Sunday evening show Buzz jr. which airs 9pm till 12am. Thanks to all of our fans requesting our song Long Day. If you want to help us get more airplay just send an email to junior@buzz103.com and request Long Day. Last year this time we were playing at the Clevelander Hotel every Wed night, but they have been closed for renovation so we have picked up a Wed night spot at Roxy's Irish Pub on Clematis St. in WPB. It is a really great new place worth the trip up.

We are also playing at the Swig Bartini in Weston,  Shown above,  for their Harley bike night called Hog Wild sponsered by Bruce Rossmeyers Harley Davidson and hosted by 97.3 The Coast. There is always a great corwd and the food and drinks are top notch. Its definitely worth the drive out.

If you don't want to travel that far we are still playing at Boston's on the Beach in Delray Beach and at the Dubliner in Boca Raton Mizner Park. Just check our show dates for currents dates and locations.

May 2007

We are staying busy this month playing lots of shows and adding new Venues such as the Monkey Club in West Palm Beach and Swig Bartini in Weston. We will however be taking a short hiatus from playing our weekly Wed night gig at The Clevelander Hotel due to re-construction of their stage and patio.

March 2007

We are having our official CD Release party on St. Patrick's Day March 17th at Boston's on the Beach in Delray at 9pm. We are also playing at the re-opening of Roxy's Irish Pub in West Palm located on Clematis Street at 3pm on St. Patrick's Day as well. So with 2 shows there is no reason not to party it up with 5th Gear, drink some green beer & spend some green on the new CD.

Aug 2006

5th Gear has been busy  in the studio and making waves on Miami Beach playing a regular slot Wed nights at the Clevelander Hotel. (www.clevelander.com) We do 2 and a half hours of cover music from all of our favorite influences as well as a good dose of 5th Gear originals.

There are some new mixes of songs that will be released on our upcoming full length CD on myspace, so give them a listen to get an idea of what its going to sound like.

March 2006

March 5th we have yet another battle of the bands contest at Murphy's Law inside the Seminole Hard Rock Casino compound. We refer to these battle of the bands as marketing campaigns or popularity contests. Why, well usually they have either pre selected a band because they are "in" with the sponsors or the band that brings the most people wins because whoever brings the most people buys the most beer and that's who they want back. None of which really has to do with the music, but none the less it is a new venue and we are stoked to be playing it. Murphy's Law is a great Irish pub and is generally always packed because of its location. So please come out and support us because the winners get to play at the hard rock Live theatre which is a large venue with a large stage.

Feb. 2006

We had our first show in a while thanks to the help of our new bass player Al Gavett. We played at the Poorhouse on Feb 4th and just had a blast.

Special thanks to Matt from 2 Story Doublewide for hooking us up with that show as well as a slot at the Poorhouse on St. Patrick's Day March 17th. The place is going to packed that night and we hope to see all of you out.

January 2006

Well the holidays flew and we hope that everyone enjoyed them. We have been busy in the studio having most of 8 tracks laid and mixed. Other big news is that we have found a new bass player, and his name is Al Gavett.

He is a welcome addition to the gear and we will be looking to play out soon, so keep checking in for upcoming dates.

Happy New Year to everyone!

October 2005

5th gear is officially going into the studio to record their full length CD. That's right all those songs you know from the live set that aren't on the 4 song EP will be recorded as well as some that you haven't heard yet. We are going into red room recording, check them out on myspace. The guys that run this studio also engineer shows at the Culture Room and The Revolution which are two of the best places to catch signed acts and the best local rock bands.

On another note Jason (aka redd) and sometimes Rhett (aka R.D.) Have started playing acoustic shows doing mostly covers, but mixing in some originals that you wont here in the 5th gear set. Check out his music at www.myspace.com/jasonsnider Check show dates for shows that he will play solo as well as for upcoming 5th gear shows.

September 2005

Well folks we have had a really busy last couple of months and we are going to be taking a  brief hiatus from playing out to work on some new material as well as some choice cover songs. We appreciate everyone that has continually come out to support us.

Aug 2005

We started off this month by going down to Miami and playing a great show at The Clevelander Hotel in South Beach. The place was packed and a good time was had by all. We were competing with 2 other bands that night in the semifinal round of "a shot at cabo wabo" which is a battle of the bands. However they didn't tell us whether we get to advance to the finals yet. They still have three more bands playing the second week of Aug and then they will picks one out of the six to go to the final round. So we will keep you updated on our status.

I have posted pics up from all the shows, so please check them out. If you were at a show chances are you are in the photo gallery. We are also playing Aug 19th at the red lion. If you haven't seen a show for a while, you will want to come out. We have been practicing some choice cover songs and have been starting the night off acoustically and progressing to the electric guitars as the night goes by. Since our set is becoming longer we are starting earlier now, be there at 9pm.

July 2005

5th gear made it to Kentucky and back, playing at the 4th annual Thirsty Melon Music Festival and Conference. We played with over 200 bands on 10 different stages. It was a really great mix of bands and different genres and a good time was had by all. A big thanks to our friend Barry Bellanger for coming on this trip with us and playing lead guitar.

We also got a chance to participate in "A Shot at Cabo Wabo",  being called the mother of all  battle of the bands. This event  is taking place in 7 different cities including Miami , which ends up with the winners of each state going to Cabo Wabo Mexico to play at Sammy Hagar's birthday bash in Oct. We need all of your support if we are going to win this one.

We played in June and won in one of the preliminary rounds held at The Clevelander Hotel in South Beach, Miami, and we are scheduled to play in a  semi-final round on August 3, again at the Clevelander Hotel (check out Show Dates for details). It's a great place to come out and see a show, the stage is outside by the pool, known for its legendary pool parties,  in the trendy South Beach area in Miami. Come out to support 5th gear and help us win a shot at Cabo Wabo.

January 2005

We had a lot of fun in 2004, which was our first year playing out. We had done just a few gigs when we got selected by the 103.1 The Buzz to play in their Battle of the Bands.  They picked the song "Together in Vain" as part of their ad to promote the show. A  lot of people came out to support us and we appreciate it. We are on our way for a big 2005, and we want you to come out and party with us,  so stay tuned and check the Show Dates often.

In case you missed us live and didn't buy our CD yet, you can click on the Music link, check out our songs and buy our CD at CD Baby.  We are proud of the album and we are sure  you will enjoy it.
